If you were recently foreclosed on due to owed property taxes, you may be entitled to a surplus. When a property is auctioned off at a tax lien sale the town or city is only entitled to the amount of taxes owed. If the property sells for more than what is owed the surplus is entitled to the owner on record at the time of sale.
